Learn to Play Piano and Keyboards

It is important to learn to read sheet music as well as to learn to play piano by ear. By learning to read music, you’ll soon be able to visually associate written notes with the pitches they represent. Having a good music teacher can do wonders. But these days, with the wonders of modern software and the wealth of easily accessible internet videos, a motivated student can do just as well with a “virtual piano teacher.” These often cost much less than a traditional piano teacher. Also they allow you advance at your own pace -- not the teacher's pace. You can spend extra time on your lessons without have to pay extra money to you teacher. The key is knowing what to practice and how to practice.

One of the fastest ways to learn to play piano is to start by learning a few of your favorite songs. Whether they be songs currently playing on the radio, hymns you've heard in church, or tunes that you've known and loved all your life, they can make excellent starting points.

With a good teacher, you’ll learn important things like how to play the piano to communicate a feeling or emotion. Composers create a piece of music to express something, and by learning music language you will be able to understand the feeling the composer intended and be able to communicate it exactly.

When people hear a good musician play, they’ll often say "that song you played really touched my heart" or "I can understand what that song is about". It’s more than the notes themselves that communicate those feelings. It’s the way in which the piano player plays and expresses the music.

We recommend that you begin your piano adventures with the video course called “Rocket Piano” developed by Ruth Searle, recipient of the prestigious Australasian Award for Composition. The program offers a 60-day no risk guarantee if you are not completely satisfied, and the first lesson is absolutely free.
